Boggsville Boatel (2011) was a floating hotel and performance space originally part of the Sea Worthy Exhibition curated by Flux Factory in Jamaica Bay Queens. The installation hosted more than 5000 people over three months and utilized 6 boats and a floating platform stage. The Boatel held nightly lectures, movie screenings, and storytelling by nautical enthusiasts, as well as a meeting with the city planners.
Mierle Laderman Ukeles has been the artist-in-residence for the NYC Department of Sanitation for the past 30+ years. During this time she has orchestrated a series of seven grand-scale collaborative performances that took place between 1983 and 2012 in New York, Pittsburgh, Givors, Rotterdam, and Tokamachi.
